1) Yes, I buy my infant ticket ex-TPE, but I can use companion fare to redeem ex-HKG for the missus so she doesn't have to do the extra leg with me.

2) Yes, ex-TPE is cheaper /but/ also they allow you to pay 10% of I. In ex-HKG, even if you have an I ticket, they will charge you 10% of J for infant.
