I think it's risky as well. It would be all on one ticket, but I don't know what BA would do if I miss the flight at Gatwick.
I don't have a plan B at this point other than trying to get an earlier flight to LHR. There is one, but no award seats available.
What's the destination? BOD perhaps? Being on one ticket makes a big difference as BA should protect you onto the next flight and put you up in a hotel if necessary. But of course that may not be much use to you if you need to get there same day.
