I had the same problem when I tried calling the executive platinum number today. Like the OP, I was able to call other 1-800 numbers but not AA.

I know that Skype used to show my Skype number when I called people because family members would say "Oh are you in IL?" When I signed into my account today, I discovered that my caller ID settings had been reset so no phone number was set to display.

I changed the settings back, clicked save, and I was able to call AA again.

This the change seems to be as much an issue with Skype resetting people's caller ID settings, as it is with AA not accepting calls without US phone numbers.
