Sadly the cabin crew won't be able to do much with it! They don't handle personal wheelchairs, for example, and on the Embraers there's not likely to be space for them inside the cabin.
That said, I suspect the best course of action will be to ask at check-in for it to be tagged, then hand it over at the gate. It will go with the prams.
As for 'can it be checked in'... if you fancy a laugh one evening head to T5 when the West Africa flights are being processed. You'll learn that
absolutely anything can be checked in!
