But as far as I can tell, there's no way to book AA codeshare on Westjet metal, online at least. I need to go to YQB in January via YYZ or YUL on Westjet but the ATL-YYZ/YUL parts on AA.
You are over-generalizing from your specific YQB problem. Other itineraries, like ATL-YHZ, can be booked on AA.com with a mix of metals just fine.
