Flew LGW-EDI in Club a couple of weeks ago. Last minute gate change. Flight departed and landed early. Unusually surly service from crew, and got served this pathetic
half toastie (what happened to the other half? nobody else chose the toastie - did they lose it?). Rocked up to the baggage carousel, and after a lot of waiting it became apparent that nothing was loaded.
Now, I realise stuff happens, and you might not choose to delay a plane because LGW was unable to move bags from one gate to another (because that Never Happens at an airport). But surely the captain needed to calculate the weight of the plane to take off safely, and therefore *knew* he was carrying no bags? Could someone not have told passengers so we wouldn't have to stand like chumps at a non-moving conveyor belt?
Menzies then took everyone's details for baggage forwarding. They managed to input every single detail incorrectly (address, description, phone number), but luckily you can edit details on the baggage website, and, credit to BA, they sent my bags on to me at my final destination, 7000 miles away, only 3-and-a-half days late... Now let's see if I get any joy with compensation for some clothing I had to buy.
[Also, have you also noticed, you never get one of those Nunwood surveys for flights you have a problem with...?]
