I don't travel much on business anymore, and looking to keep my status on BA by doing TP runs when travelling for fun (or for my nephew's graduation from Tulane, in this instance!)
The basic strategy is maximise legs. So start in Oslo, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, or Stockholm which seems to be the cheapest recently. Fly to Helsinki and then LHR. Then do the transatlantic, followed by two hops in the USA to Houston. Ideally you’d so something like, LHR to JFK to say LAX as it’s over 2000 miles and gives you another 140TP leg, rather than just 40, but most fares seem to have a mileage limit that stops too much inventive routing. I seeing £2200 for ARN HEL LHR PHL ORD IAH at the time you want for 640TP total. That’s an expensive £/TP ratio. I randomly chose Philadelphia and Chicago, experiment with others. I’d keep checking here and matrix and hope for an inevitable offer for a while, May’s a way off yet.

Edit: isn’t Tulane in New Orleans?
