It's amazing the restrictions that have been put in place to repair the runway:
1. Airport closed every Sunday indefinitely
2. Airport hours restricted from 5 am - 4 pm indefinitely
And now total closure of airport for 2 weeks in February.
I am suspecting that this is being dragged out as long as possible by the Delhi airport lobby. This is a 6 month project that is projected to take 2 years. Even if it gets done there will be a lot of blockage like Amritsar is dealing with now. Flydubai has been wanting to fly to Chandigarh since 2009 but as yet has not received approval. Turkish (and conceivably Qater, Emirates, Etihad) wants to fly to Amritsar but is being blocked also, it's ridiculous.
