Always respond within 8 hours. Simple requests often taken care of in a few hours. Complex requests they will give you an completion target within 8 hours.

Level of service varies quite a bit. Being extremely specific with what you want can give very good results.

Here is a recent example of mine:

Hello,

A friend of mine will be visiting me in London this December and I want to take her to a traditional British high tea.

I wanted to go to the Ritz’s service, but unfortunately in that time period they only offer Christmas-themed teas with caroling which does not appeal to me.

I would like to find a comparable highly traditional and fancy tea service, preferably in Central London and preferably with a formal dress code. Price is not especially important, but should hopefully be under 70 pounds per person.

My preferred dates are Dec 2 and 3. Early afternoon seating preferred, party of 2. Please give me a few options from which to choose and confirm availably for any options that you present as many of the best teas are booked far ahead.

Thank you very much for your help.

Kind regards,
C W
Note the specificity along with my request that they call or confirm availability at each. If they can take the easy way out, they may, but will generally comply with specific requests even if they are arduous.

Dear Mr. C W,

Thank you for contacting American Express Concierge regarding suggestions for Afternoon Tea in London. As per your email, I have put together the details for some popular, traditional afternoon tea options, that are currently available for either Saturday, December 2, or Sunday, December 3, 2017. Please note that we cannot hold reservations, or guarantee availability.

All of the options provided, offer a dressier atmosphere, as well as being located in central London, and are under £70.00 per person. I specifically left out any locations that mentioned Christmas carolers, such as the Afternoon Tea at Claridge's, however, they may still have these types of festivities, even if it is not included on their website. If you like, I would be happy to call them, closer to December, to see if they will have carolers, or other holiday themed activities happening in the restaurant on your preferred dates.

If you would like to secure a reservation for any of the locations listed below, please reply with a phone number I can release to the restaurant, as well as permission to release your American Express card number and expiration date, if necessary.

I hope you and your friend have a great time during their visit to London, and please let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you.

This gracious eighteenth-century building, designed as a greenhouse by Sir John Vanbrugh, is a rather austere setting with its huge ceilings and large windows. The wood paneling remains but the armchairs and sofas have taken on a sleek look. There's a nice fire on cold days adding to the luxury feel. Always one of our favorites, tea follows the classic pattern of finger sandwiches, scones and jams, pastries and endlessly refilled pots of proper loose-leaf tea. Staff are attentive and will replace anything you ask them to, so you will never walk away hungry from this one.

The English Tea Room at Brown’s, where Queen Victoria used to take her tea, is one of our favorite places for a posh afternoon tea. Brown's has upped the ante with not one but two tea sommeliers who will take you through the 17- strong list of teas, and a policy of replenishing any of the delights in front of you at no extra charge. The now requisite, albeit fabulous range of sandwiches on offer in London's top hotels is augmented by some of the best fruit cake you'll find and an assortment of gluten- and nut-free items. It's all elegantly conducted in a wood- paneled room with a plaster ceiling and an open fire.
