Corporate travel policies usually have agreements with certain hotels and we are told to book at those. Yes. Staying at Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Peninsula, etc... is immediately perceived as “expensive”.
Telling your client you’re staying at the (Park) Hyatt, doesn’t necessarily evoke the same kind of perception as an expensive hotel, even if in reality it is more expensive than other options.
