I find a 50k ATM fee to be a rip off. Most VN banks charge 20k or 30k but some charge no fee at all.
The exhange rate is not set by the ATM bank in Vietnam but by your own bank (it is the latter the converts the VND amount into your home currency).
I tried Agribank here in Hanoi city and it wouldn't give me anything. At DAD it said it couldn't give me a receipt so I CX the transaction. My bank back in NY refunds me all fees even the 50k that HSBC charges per transaction so they told me before I left, so I wanted a receipt where it shows how much ca$h it gave me and what their fee was
But I did try a few other atms in Westlake and near the old city and they all declined me even for 1M. I think I could have gotten 500k but didn't want to do a dz withdrawls when all I needed was 3
