I flew the AA DFW to HKG inaugural and Doug was there.
I also flew the AA 787 inaugural (it was DFW to ORD) and I don't recall Doug, though both AA and DFW celebrated the event.

Within the time frame of my hobby of flying "historical" flights, I don't recall any AA fleet retirements during Doug's tenure. I was on the US (while they were in the process of taking over AA) 767-200 retirement flight between CLT & PHL and don't recall Doug. I'm PHX based and yet don't remember the details of the 737-200/300 retirements, so I'm guessing Doug didn't feel it was a big deal ??? I was at the America West "open house" celebration of taking over US, and Doug was there (off topic, but I was astonished that my personal collection of America West memorabilia exceeded that which the airline itself had on display or had included in the time capsule they were burying).

As an actual airline enthusiast, I can say that a retirement flight of an aircraft type is much more significant the the inaugural, but that opinion is subjective. IE: I worked AA Operations during the inaugural and retirement of the MD-A-LEMON [MD-11]. That "retirement was not a "farewell", it was "good riddance".

So I'm "just saying" that I'm not too sure what your post was about.
I've read your typo of the word "mot" both as "more" and as "not" ... changes your post completely
