Expansion included building a multi-story inn on one end of the site (across a lagoon/footbridge from the existing cottages area). The inn build-out itself is very cohesive with Lowcountry vernacular architecturally and works well with the surrounding natural environment - feels very spacious and uncrowded (although there is obviously a higher volume of guests nowadays). For the most part these guests congregate at the inn itself (including the new dining options within the inn) and the cottages area seems pretty much as uncrowded as before (I haven't noticed any increase in transient foot or bicycle traffic through the cottages area). If anything, the River House amenities (pool, fitness center) and Buffalo's Restaurant closest to the cottages area have become less crowded with addition of the inn options. At peak dining hours I've always had a table readily available for me.
Biggest impact is strain on service. Turnaround time for in-room dining orders or housekeeping scheduling/real-time requests has lengthened significantly after inn expansion.
