I did a week last year at Gani. The service issues were minor to me there, but the HVAC and never being comfortable for sleeping at night are non-starters at amangani. The room in the winter was never cool and I didn't sleep or feel well during my stay.
Anyway, I am thinking of Amangiri and am about to book the stay. But as I read the recent reviews - I'm wondering if there are non-Aman options I should be considering. I'm looking for luxury, inspiring location, and privacy. I don't want many activities, just the location and privacy and good service. Any thoughts of what I might look for other than Amangiri? Post Ranch Inn comes to mind, but I wonder if that is a good spot to just be left alone and feel like I am in a guest house where I can come and go and enjoy the place the same way.
Anyway, private retreat, seclusion, great service. Any other thoughts? Or should I give Amangiri a go and see how it works out?
Relative to N America, Amangiri and Amangani are up there. PRI/Ventana could be but access may still be an issue. Mukul in Nicaragua could be an option. Kauai and the StR Princeville could be if you don’t mind the older building. La Casa Que Canta sounds perfect too, along with Las Alamandas. Jade Mountain if you don’t need air con. Cayo Espanto if you like to laze around and not necessarily swim in ocean.
We loved Amangiri, and we are thinking about a return in the coming year or two. We loved Amangani, too, but didn’t have any HVAC issues—and I need it to be COLD.
