red herring ... given that those shuttle buses run every 8-10 min, and you're actually getting on one stop LATER, it's probably the same bus anyway; for departures, if you have to check a bag, you'll be getting off the shuttle bus at the same stop for the ticket counter, and I think the walk up to the D entry is shorter than the walk to C (plus iirc C doesn't have full TSA Pre-Check)
