And I think your criticism of AC on this one unjustified. A while back everyone grumped about the Sat. night stay rule on the roundtrip fares making for very expensive fares should business plans make you unable to meet that fare rule. So, AC brings out one way fares, much like the competition, and still some grump. BTW, I'm guessing a couple of change fees on a $1100 fare is still better than one of the previous $2800 transcon full fare prices. In some respects, there's no winning for AC no matter what they do...
He didn't say where he's going but for $1100 you can get a U A or M fare just about that cheaply anywhere in NA and ther are no costs for changes and they are upgradable.
