The difference is in the number of "Miles" you earn. (No longer Award Miles - they are now called "Miles". Level Miles are now abolished in favour of "XPs").

If it eliminated all the stupid non-earning categories across all partners it would be good.

Though not clearly stated anywhere, my guess is that to get XPs on partner/Skyteam airlines, you have to be in an a class that earns "Miles", which will still be governed by the old tables.
