The Moscow Effect: Those Sanctions are Hitting Hard

If you are interested, here are the vlogs so you can see for yourself how amazing Russia is:

We arrived in Moscow and were ready to explore. I was very excited to see the extravagent stations, having read about them I was ecstatic to be right near the Kiyevskaya train station. Having watched videos and seen Moscow I thought it to be beautiful but I could not fathom the actual feelings and ambiance of Moscow. Naturally every place is different but Moscow is as magnificence of roses and flowers roses into a bouquet of roses and decked with ribbons bigger than can be purchased. The red of the red square, the grandness of the shopping centres and the simple brilliance of looking around and knowing that you are in a place where the Red Square, the Kremlin, and Lenin's tomb are present. But it is more than this, it is the fact we spent 7 days here and I am left feeling as though we saw nothing. A month would not be enough just for Moscow.
It is like nowhere else.

Our hotel, the trusty Ibis. Right in the centre

Kiyevskaya train station – this is the one of the ones you see in lonely planet portraying this incredible work of art as a museum of overwhelming beauty. Of ridiculous architecture made for the people, for all to enjoy and to hold their head up high and be proud of their country. This is one of the things I love about Moscow. The art is for all to admire. I have a feeling most people who live in Moscow would get a rude shock at Sydney Central. Come check out Sydney central at night and you’ll see what I mean..

Everything is so grand!

Arbat Street, a famous street where cultural enjoyment is a must.. I loved the violins players that were always about.

Street Art, on a grand building.

How fabulous is this.

Random church, not even famous. If this was in anywhere else it would be a cultural monument of significance, here it is not even that visited. We saw no one here.

Lenin’s library

The beginning of Red Square, the famous communist square that will send shockwaves down your spine. It is so beautiful it is scary!!

Beauty thy name is Moscow.

TsUM — Central Universal Department Store is one of the most famous high end department stores. It is incredulity personified.

Flowers so beautiful with designs so distinct, it would make a princess blush (if she had not been exiled). Honestly, this is amazing. I have never seen anything like it. No one does flower arrangements like the Russians.

This shopping centre is so intimidating, it’s more grand than Marina Bay Sands, I guess MBS would be more futuristic/modern and this one is classic beauty. It is very high end however we managed to find the best restaurant inside.

Crazy beautiful

The restaurant we ate at Stolovaya 57, this serves Soviet food and is very affordable. We were almost deterred from going because we read an English review on TripAdvisor saying the food was boring and the shopping centre was nothing special. This is complete nonsense. The food is incredibly tasty and the shopping centre is an architectural wonder.. see for yourself. Tip top: disregard TripAdvisor and listen to your heart. The food can be seen in the YouTube video I have placed at the top of the page on Russian Food. Needless to say we ended up ordering 16 items of food between the two of us and it cost around $20 Aud. Ridiculously cheap and super tasty!

The view exiting from TsUM.

Saint Basil's Cathedral. This is what you come to see. It is now a museum, officially known as the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on the Moat. Built by request by Ivan the Terrible in 1555–61 to celebrate the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan. It looks like something out of a fairy tale.

The Bolshoi Theatre, dancing your way into your heart.

No one gardens like the Russians!

Farm Restaurant Lavkalavka, Moscow. Absolutely delicious.

All the information for this amazing food is in the YouTube.

Burrata yumm!

Dumpling delicious as anything1

Yes, I ordered a cauliflower! It was so tasty too!

Sbiten! All the food was so yummarrooo, it was more expensive, totalling $85 Aud. Which is great given the quality.

cannot get over the architecture here.

Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, this is said to be the tallest Orthodox Christian church in the world.

Food haul! Totalling $14Aud for all this!

Before we left we called to get our photos taken and the man said: “we do not do visa photos for Russia, but why would you want to go there anyway”. To him I say, Moscow itself has given us more reasons than we could list to you or anyone. From me to you, from Russia with love!! :-::-::-:
