I've done this trip with and without the layover in GUM. I think I prefer the straight to DPS since hotels and service is great in Bali. And what the heck after 21 hours whats another 5?

While doing this as a MR you are really cheating yourself if you can't spend some time in Bali. If you scuba dive a liveaboard trip to Komono can't be beat.
In fact I have two trips booked for 2005 (not at these great fares) for touring and for diving.
