Honestly, I'm not a Doug Parker hater. I thought the takeover was relatively well-handled. Just my unqualified opinion, but I think he'd be happier if there were no AAdvantage program (credit card and other promotional income aside).
Back in the late 80's, on a DL ATL-LGA, I sat next to a senior DL executive. Very interested in why I flew DL, and what kept me on DL. ^

Also said in passing "... and my CFO is scared to death that all these miles will be redeemed on one day, and he will have no revenue, and a ton of expense.". We both agreed that was unlikely.

I'm not a Doug Parker hater, either. But his rise through the ranks comes through finance (accounting). He probably shares that DL CFO's view-Miles/points =LIABILITY.

Someone who came up through sales and marketing would probably look at Miles/points=ASSET (revenue generator).
