Over the past few months and as per Aeroplan forum, Avion has allegedly lined up with Air Canada to devalue the purchase of tickets via Avion. i.e. flights on AC metal now does not earn status points on Aeroplan and some other *A programs.' As others have mentioned, there has not been any overt communication from RBC about this.

Has anyone else likewise not been able to do this with other *A AIRLINES like tickets on United, Lufthansa, ANA, Singapore, etc. - not programs like Miles and More, Mileage Plus, etc.? Or even other alliances (eg. OW)? Thus Avion has been discussing with many airlines for what I believe is a devaluation a key benefit their program? I think that many here utilize Avion rewards for this purpose.

While it may have happened to AC travellers (I assume the bulk of Avion ticket purchases and why they AC and Avion are doing this), if the proportion of other flights purchased are too small for Avion to care about redemptions converting to status points on other airlines, then all may not be lost.
