The USE and USW zones will work when using Bart. Most hotels in either of these zones are a very short walk from Bart (1-3 blocks), providing your friends don't have excessive luggage. A couple of PL hotels in those zones (i.e., Park Hyatt) would necessitate a very short cab ride from Bart (you would have to exit the Bart station & get a cab on Market Street ). I would not recommend you bid on the SFO (airport) zone since your friends only have a short stay, and the travel to/from that zone to DT would take a lot of time. Should be no problem taking suitcases from SFO Bart. Yes, if they should happen to get the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero, that would be the choice hotel for exiting the Bart station--right at the front door.
