As a follow up to my earlier post, I messaged Lauren and that seems to have done the trick. Hilton have now re-opened my account and gifted me 20,000 Hilton points for the inconvenience.
I still have no real idea why my account was closed although I suspect it was something to do with points pooling triggering a fraud detection algorithm.
