Couple of my relatives are traveling SFO - HKG on CX and are currently booked in Y. I called the TA to know about the price for upgrade to Premium Economy and the TA informed that it would be approx USD 1000 per person !
Based on some promo's I see online during my travels (not CX, but United / DL ), this amount seems quite high.

Is it possible that this is because we checked with the TA who originally booked the ticket ?
What is an optimal way to buy Premium Eco in CX ?
