Adequate Cat 4 hotel room...soon to get central air

Introduction I had an early morning meeting in Pebble Beach, so I decided to stay 1 night at the nearby Hyatt Regency. After booking it for almost $200, I realized it was a Category 4 Hotel, meaning I could use my Hyatt Visa cert for the night. A quick call to WOH took care of it and the room rate was free,i didn’t take any photos of the main lobby or other areas as I never used them. I literally checked in, got to the room, ordered room service dinner, slept, showered, had room service breakfast, and then departed. The entire property is quite large. There is a conference center as well as the various hotel buildings. It seems that all the buildings were about 3 stories. My room was on the 3rd floor of the farthest located building on the property. Check In Check in was quick and easy. I arrived around 8 pm, when it was pretty dark. I had to park outside the main reception building, and there was no valet to be found. The front desk attendant got me checked in in just a few minutes. That being said, the front desk attendants were talking amongst themselves for a few minutes before and during my check in (and another group check in), which was bit off-putting and a little unprofessional. Room Considering the exterior of the various buildings, the room was surprisingly modern and fresh.U The big surprise was the thermostat indicating it was for heat only. Apparently, there was no central air con, so they had installed a portable unit vented to the outside: The portable worked OK, though it never cooled the room to below 69 F. A guest relation rep on the phone indicated they were hoping to install central air in the coming year. I suppse this can’t be that unusual for Monterey. Service Service was actually pretty good. My two room service orders came promptly and quickly (maybe 15-20 min for dinner after ordering, and promptly at the requested 7:45 am for breakfast). The check in was great. Check out I did online. Dining As I was traveling for work and was alone, I enjoyed room service for both dinner after arrival:And room service breakfast th next morning (scheduled for arrival at 7:45 am and delivered at 7:45 am):Food was good and hot. It wasn’t cheap (spent $103 for both orders) but that’s pretty standard for overpriced room service. Location The location is fine, just off the main highway in and out of Monterey. There really was no great view from my room or from the hotel that I ever noticed...but it was just about 5 min drive to the entrance for Pebble Beach. Overall Overall, it was a fun stay. Would I want to pay $200 for the 1 night? Definitely not. But the stay was more than sufficient for a 1 night stay for work. I’ll hope that they install central air con by the time I have to stay again in a year.
