I expect they will need to do FIS changes (likely T2 instead) for this flight as part of the plan. New restaurants and shops are coming in. I think they could be open before this flight starts.
I know people feel ONT area is not good for cargo, but it has lots of major warehouses and some of the biggest part distributions for the entire West Coast.
However, I think the airline was smart. Why join the mess at LAX without incentives? Sure, if the economy suffers this flight leaves, but I think it can be successful like EK has done in many secondary cities.
