Just stayed at the Hilton in Universal City a few days ago (right across the street from Universal Studios) and was able to use my Gold free breakfast. That said, I would NEVER have paid the price for the basic breakfast, it was nice have a free muffin and fruit and juice, but I think the "going rate" was seriously like $20+ for that. I could have upgraded to a full breakfast buffet with hot items for an extra $10, but didn't seem worth it to me as I was in a rush and just wanted a bit to eat.

Great hotel by the way, I would totally recommend it over the Sheraton right next door. Easier walking access to Universal Studios from the Hilton so you can save on parking or if you valet your car (had a VIP ticket to Universal) and then forget a jacket or something you can immediately walk across and get it without having to sweet talk the valet into letting you leave and come back.... figuring that out when the Halloween Horror nights event was a little too cold for a tshirt but only realized that once I handed over the keys and was about to get to the front gate of Universal :P
