Yeah, I was surprised at bad the sound insulation was, especially for a newly renovated tower.

I liked both the Renaissance and the J.W. Marriott. It would be difficult choosing one over the other.
Staff at both properties were excellent. The J.W. Marriott was a little more polished, if only because the Renaissance could feel like a zoo between what are essentially two different hotels. Also, I didn't like the inconsistent housekeeping at the Renaissance. Between my experiences and online reviews, it seems the property regularly doesn't have enough towels.
The lounges were very comparable, but the lounge at the J.W. has complimentary drinks until like 9 or 9:30 p.m. if I recall correctly. Plus, they had sparkling wine. However, the lounge has no natural lighting and many of the tables are too low to eat comfortably.
The East Tower lounge at the Renaissance is very elegant and has amazing views. Plus, the lower level was basically never used when I was there, meaning it was like my own private space. I can't speak for the West Tower lounge because it wasn't open when I was there.
