I use them every time I leave the country. I have never had a problem with them.
You have to understand all their conditions though (and I'm not saying that to say this product doesn't save you a ton of money).
You have to get a $20 card. It's 4.9 cents if you use it in the US. It's 2 minute billing increments, and there is a sixty nine cents per week service charge, and you have to use it within six months. There can be a pay phone surcharge of up to sixty nine cents per call, though I don't believe I've ever paid one.
So while it's 2.9 cents per minute, even a five second call will cost you 5.8 cents. So will a two minute call.
Do the math against the other choices, and for me for a week or two trip, it's been hands down the winner.
You get an e-mail with the access numbers your card number fairly quickly after you sign up, I think the first time you may have to call an 800 number for verification, not sure it it was with them or not.
But I recommend it to everybody traveling overseas.
