Yep, I stopped doing stuff like that years ago because many cashiers just don't get it and the ensuing confusion just slows down the line. Even trying to pay for something like a chocolate bar with 5 quarters proves a bit too difficult for many because they don't automatically know that this equals $1.25, so they have to try to do 5x25 in their head, or worse yet, 25+25+25+25+25 (you can almost see the wheels spinning in their heads when they're doing it that way)
