I flew AA for the first time and had my QF number in the original booking. I didn't think the return leg from YYZ-LAX earned anything on Qantas so asked the agent to put in my AA # which showed up on my boarding pass. But now I'm told it's gone to Qantas.

I use this with *A sometimes and ask them to swap out my NZ # for SQ or VA and it works fine. This is my first time doing this with OW as I've always used my QF # previously and I'm now confused.
