I think that's absolutely ridiculous. You should definitely write a complaint letter or phone customer service at Starwood. Maybe you can get comped in addition to what you've already received. It's worth a try. Service is such a big part of the hotel experience and when that's not up to par, it puts a damper on the entire trip.
