Transferring points to SPG should then be governed by the SPG rules. So as long as your SPG account is currently showing active, so will your points regardless of source. As long as your transfer is done before they are taken away by MR you're good to go.

As mentioned above, be careful putting points into MR. There have been posts from folks that transferred points into an inactive MR account and the points went away because there has not been a qualifying transaction and the point transfer did not count.
