Receipt 1:
On swipe 2 of 4 (2 999.30s) I noticed that amount due dropped from 1500 to 1000 before I had even put my pin in. I concluded (rightly) that the cashier had hit the cash key and that his drawer was going to be short 500. I would rather preserve my location long term rather than steal $500 from the cashier. So I interjected and asked him to have the manager come over to approve cancelation of the entire transaction. She warned me that the money might not show back up on the card for up to 24 hours (and I was worried about that as well so on the next transaction I led with that card first to drain to test and it worked fine). That receipt (2 999.30s) then completed fine including the card that had already been swiped.
Receipt 2:
(2 999.30s) At the end, it said load MO printer which led to 20 minutes of 4-5 people working on the MO printer while they apologized for the delay and I reassured with a smile that I have patience. The MO printer was full … ? They took out the MOs reloaded (wrong and backward) call other people to fix etc etc. Finally, everything is loaded and correct and they go to print. I note that cash register display facing to me says that it is printing document 2. I point it out to the CSR that I’m concerned I will be short changed. As soon as it prints, then the display says change due $1000 and opens the drawer. He is about to close it before I point out that I am due the $1000 since the MO didn’t print out. The CSR manager who is standing by him confirms and I end up with 1 MO + 1k cash. Ok, that will be just fine. I would be fine with 1k cash for every to debits any day.
Previous week:
(2 999.30s) Swipe 4 of 4 the transaction finishes BEFORE I have even put in my PIN for card 4 and the MO starts to print. I know immediately that he has hit cash and will be short cash. I tell him he needs to call over a manager because I know he will be short. This starts the convoluted process of them 1) giving me 1 of the 999.30s, 2) taking the 999.30 as payment and issuing 998.6 MO (500 ‘cash’ plus my 500 debit – 0.70 *2)
Helps to be aware of these scenarios that can emerge.
And I agree, it helps to be in a MS oasis where they have you fill out the MO form and do 8k per visit.
