That is not correct. You can only earn points/credit for one stay at a time. Normally, the stay with the lower amount of base points is what will post in the case of overlapping stays.
OP, I suggest that you reach out to the Honors Rep on here to ask for guidance about your situation to ensure that you get the points for the 12 night stay rather than the 2 night stay.
