If you are referring to UA operated flights, it is best to call the seats Economy Plus (E+), Premier Economy offered by other airlines is significantly different (and books in unique fare classes).

As to if your family will maintain their E+ seating, most likely yes unless there is an aircraft change and other circumstance that causes a reseating sweep.
