I have been here in June 2016 for one night. While having booked a queen room with river view, the GM had offered me a paid upgrade to a corner room pre-arrival. First time ever that I was offered a paid upgrade as Diamond (nor as Gold).
The ferry ride from behind the main station is an add-on. But this applies to every place that being a port city or being built along and around waters.
On arrival, no free upgrade. Yes, dark and tight hallways, small rooms and great views. However, there was no refrigerator where it should have been. (I travel with a weekly medication that has to be stored in a refrigerator. This is a hassle at times) - Reception: no clue. The restaurant/bar staff kindly stored my medication in one of their fridges.
If a hotel claims to have rooms equipped to a certain standard I thoroughly do expect this standard in my room.
After having checked out I reported this to the GM. His response was "My Technical staff reported indeed the minibar/fridge being broken and ordered a new one right away, in the mean time you occupied the room, which is a combination of circumstances which couldn’t be avoided." - Not avoided?
New HH affiliated hotels alway are on my bucket list. I have ticked it off.
