I know it doesn't apply, but i thought if it is with anything, it will equal to the lower possible fare class in term for OP question on standby. Or the answer to OP question is yes, OP can standby for an earlier flight.
There was a time Aeroplan J had free standby and P fares did not.
Just like X has free seat selection but Tango does not.
