Last platinum came with a $14k credit limit. Sitting on a 65k mailer right now with a January expiration ate (not sure if they really enforce those) wondering if I should
1. close one or two of the current platinum cards (oldest will be a year in December)
2. reduce credit limit across all of them
3. just go ahead and make the application and agree to reallocate credit (would prefer to avoid explaining why I need a 5th platinum)
I drop credit lines to $2000 and then close cards once the spend is made and the bill paid. There is no point in having more than one open at a time other than because you are working on spend or have not paid it off yet.
In 40+ CIti cards I have never been asked why I wanted another one even with 5 identical ones already open. I would just explain that I am trying to keep certain expenses separate or something. They don't care.
