I'm half of a good argument for this.

About 15-20 years ago Continental randomly upgraded me a friend on a trip to Paris, I think.

I was totally bitten and it started my pursuit of opportunities to get up front... of course I rarely pay retail for for it but use whatever tricks, points, status etc I can to get up there.

Most of which I learned about right here. ^^

But not sure I'm what the airlines have in mind with the "get 'em hooked strategy. :/
