I dont want to hijack this thread, but a short and sweet (details coming when I calm down enough to write a curse-free trip report):
The PHL airport marriott was the culprit at $209 a night - we got the last room I think, there were lots of stranded folks due to the weather. They were 'out of' distressed rate rooms.
US declined to help find hotels for any of us - It was an ugly scene. We had all been told by the arriving gate agent to go to ticketing in concourse B/C to get helped, and when we arrived they made a blanket announcement that "anyone who came in from PIT on flight XXX and missed their connections did so at their own risk". I dont think that I would have gone to PHL (from home in PIT) to hang out in PHL all day and spend $240 (after taxes) on a room for 12 hours. I saw someone (who will remain nameless) throw their CP card at an agent in disgust and swear never to pay for a flight on US again. I know he is trying hard to keep his promise.
as it was already 10pm, and we had a sleepy 2-year old, we didnt have many options to screw around offsite.
US's PIT station manager as well as several others will be getting a pissy letter from me demanding a REFUND for the hotel room, I dont need a voucher.
