Actually both Sony and Sennheiser were preferred over the Bose because of the hand gestures control over the handphone cup. You totally control volume and track selection (forward and backward) without touching anything else.
Sennheiser fare worse in Noise Cancellation ability.
Sony is superior in noise cancellation because it got it's own calibration mode. Soundstage is very precise with good low frequency response. Never intended to buy Sony, just happened to chance upon a Mk 2 version at Frankfurt departure....and it turned out to be the best noise cancellation headphones I owned so far....and believe me, I purchased many.
