Indeed, you will only have to go through passports and head to your next gate. I recently did a 50 minutes' non-Schengen to Schengen connection with a 20 minutes' delay coming into Munich, remote stand with bus transfer and still I managed to get to my new gate (G) roughly 10 minutes before departure, plane was still boarding and I wasn't the last one joining the queue! MUC has an incredibly functional infrastructure in terms of connections and in your own circumstances I would not even be sweating at the thought of a potential minor delay coming from IAD.
