Travelling with infant, bassinet seat and aircraft change

Hi all. Looking for a bit of advice. We are travelling on Monday evening on LHR-DXB service in Economy. When I bought the tickets back in July I was allowed to pre select seats as travelling with infant. I checked the aircraft type and selected row 30 (3 middle seats) as it was showing up as a 787 and had an infant icon indicating bassinet location.
Fast-forward to today and checked my booking and was shocked to find out we are still in row 30 but these aren't bassinet seats anymore.
I phoned Ba and they tell me my seats haven't changed and they are not aware of the aircraft change. I wasnt sure at the time if perhaps I didn't mess up booking so just accepted what I was told. I was advised that there are two seats E & F in bassinet row on the way out and one one the way back (D). So i changed myself travelling with infant to these seats and on the way out my wife will have separate seat and on the way back my son will also have to seat elsewhere with her.
I was advised to check as soon as the online checkin opens if I can get them to sit at the exit row seat across the aisle from the bassinet row.

after the call I kept on checking seat guru puzzled how it happened and noticed that on 787 bassinet row is indeed in 30 and in 777 it's row 26 so they must have changed the aircraft but I had no email whatsoever and customer service said they didn't see any change....

Anyway, i appreciate "operational" reasons and all that but whats the point allowing people with Infants to prebook these seats if then they do not move me to an equivalent row when the aircraft changes???

Can someone advice what I should expect from BA at this stage? Can I call them again and insist they hold exit row seat for me even when online check-in is not open yet? I do not want to risk it and just hope I'll get this seat (two on the way back) so we can all sit togerher with kids. They told me today they cant move me to it just now but is it really true?

A bit upset by it all as its our first big trip with the wee one (7.5 months) and flying through the night we were really hoping to be able to use the bassinet but also want to sit together for obvious reasons.
