.....except some carriers are notorious for bypassing all of their own and partner elites for OPUPs and instead randomly selecting some kettle, perhaps in the pointless hope of convincing that once a year cheapest possible fare traveler to purchase an expensive business class ticket in the near future because they loved business class so much when they tried it once for free. Never mind that some of these people rarely fly, might always fly on other alliances, or simply cannot afford premium cabin tickets no matter how much they like the experience.
