Now, if the aircraft is stopped, and will be for a while (say 30 minutes) we can talk to the captain and get his permission to do a beverage service.
...I think that was a joke.

The other day I was flying MCO-ATL-PIA and reminded myself why I can not stand flying Delta via ATL.
Inboud was delayed due to
a.) Weather in MCO
b.) A holding pattern enforced by the ATC due to Delta scheduling too many planes at once.

So, I get to the gate, running from T1 to C27 mind you, at exactly departure time to discover the flight FOR ONCE pushes back 10 minutes prior. I'm stuck, as this is the last flight today to PIA.

God forbid the lazy gate agent look at the list of inbound passengers and hold the flight a minute or two... to the ACTUAL departure time.
(((So much for southern hospitality.)))

I was told "federal regulations require us to do this."
When I asked what federal regulations, I got a blank stare.
I had not checked bags, it was not DCA, etc... it was ATL-PIA for Pete's sake!

I'm not saying other carriers are better at this, but I have found the other two carriers I regularly fly HAVE been good about keeping any eye on people who are making tight connections which are beyond their control.
In fact, in a previous life I remember a DL JFK-NRT flight being held back a bit for MissBumpMe! and me. Not anymore.

Gee, Thanks Vicki.
