another 'Centurion is awful' [UK] thread...
Find myself using it less and less, especially when travelling. The exchange rate and 3% FX transaction fee seems ludicrous when I have a revolut card that is significantly cheaper.
My relationship manager is very slow, often requires chasing, fares are usually cheaper online (and quicker to find and buy, ditto flowers etc) and the only programme I really benefit from is BA Gold which they don't offer (I rarely fly Virgin so don't care about this benefit).
Asked for a new relationship manager nearly 2 weeks go and got a cursory email saying one would contact me within 3 days. Ten days later, nothing. Another promise of 'they'll email you tomorrow' followed by four more days of nothing and then a perfunctory welcome email. No apology, no explanation, and when I said it felt odd they'd promise an email imminently and then I had to wait over two weeks I got an email saying "Hi, didn't she just email you already?'.
I asked them to cancel my account and they offered to let me continue using the account until January at which point if I cancelled they'd refund the whole year which seems like a sensible suggestion.
I feel like an idiot for paying £2500pa for, essentially, a bit of metal.
Am I missing something? SPG Gold is helpful but not essential. Ditto Melia Platinum. But I'm not seeing anything of real value here except perhaps the travel insurance.
Things felt much better a few years ago - free sports cars for a month, £500 gift cards, instant responses to emails, proactive relationship managers etc etc.
Has anyone here cancelled and then found a valid reason to regret doing so?
