I would agree with you that there is a huge gap between Sheraton Miyako Tokyo and the Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho. When I did my comparision review in the posts earlier it was the Westin Tokyo VS Prince Gallery Tokyo (not the Sheraton Miyako).
The main point I wanted to make on my review was the Law of Diminishing Returns. If a hotel is rated from 0 - 100 compared to prices, I find there is a BIG jump from a 30% budget hotel (like Toyoko Inn at $USD 70/night) to a 75% decent hotel (like Sheraton Tokyo at $USD 170). So $USD 100 extra a night has a night and day difference.
Then the next $USD 100 to go from a 75% decent hotel (like Sheraton Tokyo at $USD 170) to a very good one at 92% (Westin Tokyo at $USD 270), the improvement is noticeable but definitely not as great of a difference than when going from Toyoko Inn to the Sheraton.
Now to reach from 92%'s Westin Tokyo to the 98%'s Prince Gallery, it will cost you an extra $USD 200/night. The slightly higher service costs a lot more on money side. So I think you can generate the same if not more happiness by saving the $US200/night and spend it in a night out with friends. If you spend that $US 200 on a girl (or female friend) instead of a room, you might get lucky too!

And that definitely generates more happiness than a slightly better hotel room and service.
