Just completed my third stay here and thought I should report back, in short this hotel keeps on getting better.
Warmly welcomed back, was slightly ahead of 3pm check in time so room not ready for around 15 minutes after arrival - sent to the lounge and furnished with champagne to wait.
I love the interior design at this hotel. This time I had a Grand Deluxe Premier room (a generous two category upgrade to a room not for sale online, which I very much appreciated). I still think it's important to get one of the rooms above base level Club rooms to maximise the experience here. Whilst the Grand Deluxe Premier room is beautifully designed, it's only 4sqm bigger than the Grand Deluxe Corner room which is significantly cheaper and also has an arguably better layout/more windows, so I think that's the real sweetspot price-wise.
Changes observed:
- Slightly different mix of breakfast items in both the main restaurant and lounge
- Changed hours slightly for the various club lounge food presentations (things are generally earlier now, other than breakfast which now starts at 7am both in the lounge and restaurant)
- The lounge champagne has been changed from the already quite generous Louis Roederer previously to Barons de Rothschild now, the fact that it makes it feel even more like the CX F Lounge is probably part of why it feels like home!
Had sushi at Souten last time which was quite good - had a full Kaiseki meal this time and it was really excellent. I also had the venison burger for the second time and it was much better now (less well done/more tender).
Perhaps we are looking for very different things, Yeunganson, but I have now checked in to the Sheraton Miyako for my final night and I almost want to cry the difference in quality is so large, even at materially less than half the price per night. The only thing better at the Sheraton is some staff English ability. It should also be noted I am a millennial and I have almost never been the only one in the lounge! The fact it doesn't attract families is, frankly, part of the appeal to me. This hotel has almost single handedly (with a few other very high quality Asian hotels) pulled me away from IHG/Hilton to now shortly being SPG Platinum.
