foreign SIM on roaming bypasses the GFW
it does indeen ususally work. Thanks for the mention of VPN, but been there done that (8 years now) and the only reliable speedy option in 2017 is now using a 4G SIM on roaming.

No point of this being in the China forum, as this is not what people are looking for there. I posted this in the Japan forum, as I need to buy this SIM before leaving Japan back to China.
